on election day

This morning found John and me getting out of bed at a ridiculously early hour (5:45 – hey, it’s early for us!), all jazzed up about getting to go vote.  Originally, we planned to be at the polling station at 6… but then, due to the facts that a.) he didn’t want to leave because it was still dark out and b.) I spent twenty minutes standing in my closet, staring zombie-like at my clothes.  Oh, so tired.

We finally got to the polling place about 6:20, and waited about 45 minutes in line to vote.  It warmed my heart to see so many people (even young ones!) out and about so early with the sole mission of exercising their democratic right to vote.

And now, after casting our votes and spending our day at work and school,  here we sit, at home, our bellies full of homemade Mexican food, and watching CNN and MSNBC, holding our breath as the results trickle in, and the beginnings of hope fluttering in our hearts.

Change, it appears, is well on the way.
